Saranya Nayak is a visual anthropologist, filmmaker and photographer hailing from Kolkata, India. Her projects have been inspired by all manner of things perceived and imagined while traveling from and living in Delhi, Manchester, Kolkata, London and Los Angeles. Her aim is to create research-based audiovisual content that can generate a closer understanding of things not easily seen, heard, felt or captured.
Saranya has a BA in History from Lady Shri Ram College (University of Delhi), and an MA in Visual Anthropology from The University of Manchester. Having gained experience in Kolkata as an Assistant Director on feature films during the first half of 2018, she is currently pursuing an MFA in Film and Television Production from University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.
She loves theatre, sketching, playing the guitar, and watching animation.
